A big moment. A good week late, the moving truck was in front of the door this morning at 7:20. Every day before that, we sorted, packed, threw away, prepared ourselves. A little bit every day. A week late because the kitchen wasn’t finished yet.
There’s a ring at the door. Five guys, young, very strong, very eager, throw themselves at the boxes and furniture. Everything disappears quickly into a big MAN truck, and is already unloaded at the new house from 11:00 onwards. We are moving within the city, so there isn’t much driving time. At 14:00 the five are done. Everything intact, everything in place. Signature, 50,- tip, everyone gets a bottle of vodka. And then we are alone. The unpacking hustle begins. We won’t be finished. Tomorrow is another day. Everything so different. Our furniture partly doesn’t fit so well into the new rooms, but for now it has to work. I connect the TV and Yamaha. That way we at least have some music and pictures tonight. Around seven we sit in the evening sun. She hugs me...radiates, arrived, me too. House finished, home finished. It’s done. Our first real house, not a townhouse like before, not a big apartment as interim, but a house with a terrace, to walk around, yes, we are now bourgeois, building society savers, homeowners, garden center brochure viewers. And that’s a good thing....Karsten

Can you still remember? Surely. Tell me, moving in, that’s a topic that stays in the mind. Karsten

I just looked at some old pictures, it's crazy that the van was parked in the front yard, and the way to the front door was over Euro pallets. Which isn't so great when you're carrying bulky furniture and also have to be careful not to step between the slats. When I see the chaos in the photos... no... I don't need that again for now. We still had to do a second move (second apartment), the boxes are still lying around because the kids arrived in between. Meanwhile, the outdoor facilities are finished and a 120 L brown bin is too small.

Our move was already about 3 years ago. The boxes were mostly already in the new house because I had taken things little by little, so that only the furniture had to be transported. I had also mostly disassembled it in advance. On moving day, everything was loaded onto the truck relatively quickly. Unfortunately, it rained a bit in the morning during loading. When we arrived at the house, everything was carried inside and mostly set up by 2 p.m. Only the kitchen we brought along was not assembled so quickly, because I had to saw out the cutouts for the stove and sink from the new countertop, and I also had to saw the 90cm board so that it would simultaneously serve as a windowsill. My wife was quite clever and had photographed the contents of the cabinets in advance. So it was quite easy to put the contents of the boxes back into the cabinets right away. For us, by Sunday afternoon when our child returned from grandma's, all the boxes were unpacked.

Our move was stressful.

I wanted to sort out a lot more, but in the end, time was lacking (from me and my husband)... Between the move, vacation, and another pregnancy with the 3rd baby...

Package delivery, gravel path, and cold had to be dealt with here. I don't want to move again.

Now we are still sorting out quite a bit, we are not completely finished yet, some boxes are still standing around, a few cabinets are missing, and for the living/dining room I would like to have new furniture.
