Missing channels on our satellite system - Who knows this?

Hello everyone,

we recently finally moved in but have problems with the SAT system. We aligned the dish using a test device from the electrician. We have a quattro LNB on the dish. The 4 coax cables go to a multiswitch in the attic and 6 SAT cables are connected there. The multiswitch has an external power supply.

At the beginning, we had no signal at all. After a friend came (unfortunately I was not there that day) the TV worked. He simply connected the Hamburg cable from the LNB directly to the SAT cable for the living room. Everything runs fine so far.

Now I wanted to set up a TV in other rooms. So I plugged the Hamburg cable back into the multiswitch and the other SAT cables into its outputs. Now I only have 50-60% signal strength and 0% quality and only ARD, ZDF, Phönix etc. are running.

Can you help me and tell me why it doesn’t work with the multiswitch? I’m desperate.

Since I am not very knowledgeable, please give simple explanations.

Thank you.

What the acquaintance did was also botched. Okay for testing, but that's it. Hamburg also only makes up 1/4 of the channels.

Are there still dip switches per output on the multiswitch? Or potentiometers for strength?

Did you set the settings correctly on the receiver/TV?

Give us the type of the multiswitch. Then we can take a look at the technical data...

your system just needs to be properly aligned and adjusted. Without knowledge (as it seems) not much can be done.

Do you have no one in your circle of acquaintances/friends who knows their stuff? But not in a way where cables are switched around just as you please?

Maybe the switch is defective, maybe the cables are connected incorrectly, maybe there is no power in the socket to which the multiswitch is connected... There are many possible causes of error. If you have no idea yourself, get someone who knows about it. In case of doubt, a TV technician.

Hi,

were all channels available when the cable was directly looped through to the TV? If yes, the error could be with the satellite dish. I’m not really an expert in this field, but in my opinion you need an LNC with a multiswitch and not an LNB. Unfortunately, I can’t describe the exact differences now, but with a multiswitch different or varying frequencies are processed and the LNB passes everything on all connections which then leads to errors...

Best regards
