Starting from a wall thickness of 36.5 cm, aerated concrete should meet the requirements of the KfW standard (U-value <0.2), while Poroton requires additional filling with perlite.
However, the sound insulation of Poroton is better than that of aerated concrete, if I have researched correctly (at least on paper). How does this behave in practice?

I asked myself the same question for a long time when choosing our supplier, comparing materials and bricks, asking in the forum here, etc., because soundproofing was important to us.

Take a look at the sound values of aerated concrete (somewhere in the upper 40s dB range) and of windows (mostly somewhere in the mid/upper 30s dB range), then you know where the problem lies. And if you plan with a lot of window area, then I would worry less about the bricks.

We faced the same choice.
Insight 1
Berlin and the surrounding area are mainly built with white blocks. Mostly Ytong, less often KS.
I come from the Harz region and there it's almost exclusively red (Poroton), I think it is strongly regional.

In my opinion, Ytong is easier for the shell builder to work with, a mass product, and it allows for quick construction. (This "good" residual moisture after moving in).
We more or less let ourselves be persuaded by the architect to choose KS and ETICS, even though we don't expect much noise out in the sticks (near Tesla).

We once had Ytong and KS+ETICS quoted price-wise, and Ytong was about 10-15% cheaper for the shell construction.

Conclusion. We're going with KS :)

Wasn't brick and breathable walls ever presented to you? By the way, I also come from the Harz, more precisely from the heart of the Harz (lived in Goslar for 13 years) :-) We will be building in Brandenburg with Poroton. 36.5 cm brick without ETICS, but still KFW 55.

I have the same question as the thread starter. Thanks , perfect timing to ask this here!
So is the conclusion in the end a matter of "taste" whether to choose filled Poroton or KS + WDVS.
Both achieve KFW55 standard and both insulate so well that in the end the windows are the weakest link in the chain.

I imagine it is very difficult to test something like this during a model house tour and I hope for real experiences here, even if these are of course subjective.

P.S.: Are we really at "normal standard" houses now also in Brandenburg at 2100-2500€/sqm? Or were we dealing with the wrong GCs?

We are also currently building in Brandenburg and that fits well. After finalizing selections and the first moderate price increase, we will reach well over 2200 €/sqm, excluding additional building costs and outdoor facilities, but Kfw55.
