We faced the same choice.
Insight 1
Berlin and the surrounding area are mainly built with white blocks. Mostly Ytong, less often KS.
I come from the Harz region and there it's almost exclusively red (Poroton), I think it is strongly regional.
In my opinion, Ytong is easier for the shell builder to work with, a mass product, and it allows for quick construction. (This "good" residual moisture after moving in).
We more or less let ourselves be persuaded by the architect to choose KS and ETICS, even though we don't expect much noise out in the sticks (near Tesla).
We once had Ytong and KS+ETICS quoted price-wise, and Ytong was about 10-15% cheaper for the shell construction.
Conclusion. We're going with KS :)
