Hello everyone, the good news for us is that our construction is going according to plan so far, or we are even slightly ahead of schedule. So far, all the subsequent trades have signaled that they can start seamlessly on the shell construction, provided there are no further restrictions. Now I am wondering if it would be a good idea to already buy materials for the interior finishing. I’m thinking of floor coverings, doors, etc. Our concern is that there might be delays later due to material shortages. Whether we can completely prevent that is, of course, questionable. But at least we could try. There is enough storage space available. Most of it has actually already been selected. Is our consideration exaggerated? How are the other builders doing it at the moment? Our current status is that next Friday we will get the floor slab of the upper floor. The basement level is sealed, drainage has been laid, the structural builder has already chased the walls in the basement, windows are ordered (material available). I am still worried about the tiles. Although we are tiling in only a few areas, we have not yet finally selected them, and many actually come from Italy.

I would start on the tiles slowly, do you want to install the doors yourselves? Otherwise, also check with a door maker/carpenter.

We are doing the interior finishing ourselves or with acquaintances who have companies in the respective trades. So flooring (parquet and vinyl) and interior doors with my brother-in-law, who is a trained carpenter. Tiles (including the bathrooms and built-in structures) with a friend who is a trained tiler and self-employed. We only want to do painting partially ourselves. I am currently obtaining quotes to wallpaper and paint all the ceilings with fleece. Kitchen, living/dining room, hallway, and stairwell we want to have done completely by others. We will probably do the walls of the children's rooms, parents' bedroom, and office ourselves (except for the ceilings, which will also be done by the painter). For example, I am already itching to order vinyl, parquet, and doors with the respective accessories and store them for now.

If there is space and money available, of course, one could do that. Better to have than to need.

See it like Italy and Spain are not producing, I do not have France on my radar. Goods from Italy and Spain have been stuck at the borders for days in some cases. Many companies in Germany have closed or are working with restrictions. Talk to the companies. They can only tell you as of today, but if there are no tiles from Italy now, you can look for an alternative.

Italian tiles? Buy! Hopefully, there is stock available. Product deliveries will probably stagnate.
