Material availability / shortages during Corona times

Doors usually have lead times. I have more the problem in Central Germany that people are missing – truck drivers, forklift drivers, concrete pumps, etc. The materials are actually available but the logistics are severely limited. So, if you need it soon anyway and have clarity, get it done. One less worry.

I would be interested to know how things are going on the "self-performance construction sites" right now. Of course, it’s a super special situation, but I can imagine that it messes up some people’s (at least timewise) calculations. Because not all relatives and the sports club, etc., are helping out on the construction site. I’m seeing it right now with us, and I planned almost no self-performance, but with two kids at home and a wife in a system-relevant job, it’s hardly possible to even sweep once in a while.

Or is it the other way around for some, with short-time work and more time than usual?

Things are still going well for us at the moment. The two of us plus father and mother are currently doing the work ourselves (installation level + wood fiber insulation), and we are all currently living in the same house, so no problem. We have finished the attic, and tomorrow we are moving to the ground floor. The window installer is starting in the basement tomorrow and can then continue upstairs. That way, we don't get in each other's way.
