Hello forum,
we originally wanted to have granite laid throughout the entire ground floor, except for the utility room. Now we have seen a chic marble floor (Verde Guatemala) at a natural stone dealer. We would lay this throughout the entire ground floor, in different sizes, on the stairs and in the upper floor hallway. (The hallway upstairs is only 4.5 m².)
Question: Is polished marble suitable for stairs and kitchen or too slippery? Is the surface hard enough to withstand the stresses in the entrance area permanently? Can marble be repolished when it is "worn out"? How resistant is it to grease or similar substances that might splash out of the pan in the kitchen? I have already read that marble is not acid-resistant, but vinegar (or other acidic foods) is not spilled that often.
