Kitchen - handleless, or would you rather not?! And would you prefer a stone countertop?

We have an undermount sink without a draining area in a granite worktop. The granite is Nero Assoluto, flamed and brushed. Because of the "wavy" surface, the granite does not feel cold at all; we would choose it again anytime. The surface is also very low-maintenance and does not need to be dried after wiping, as is the case with high-gloss granite.
A handleless kitchen is more expensive than one with handles (this was told to us by several kitchen dealers). We have stainless steel handle rails, which are very easy to wipe clean (no corners and edges).

Best regards
Sabine

So, the appointment was successful. We calculated back and forth, changed things, and now the stone countertop costs an extra amount of about 800 instead of 3500 euros. A black one with a wavy surface. We have moved away from the handleless front and now have regular handles. You can immediately see in which direction the cabinet opens, which I find more practical for us. The final price is still pending.

Oh ok, but the main thing is that you are satisfied with the decision! May I ask what the stone slab costs in total?

The stone slab should cost 3500 with the flush-mounted cutouts. However, we had set our limit for the kitchen at about 15000 and now have to save something because otherwise we would be exactly 3500 over that. 18500 for a kitchen is too much for us. Now it will probably be around 16300 with XXL appliances for a large family. So a large freezer, a large refrigerator, large cooktop, large dishwasher, etc. And completely with drawers. I believe that way I am satisfied.

The topic is probably settled. Otherwise, I would have said that children probably figure out the opening direction faster than us adults ;)

Stone slab and flush-mounted surfaces are wonderful to clean. So a very good choice. Stone is not louder than plastic panels either. It just sounds different. And since you hardly ever touch the surface anyway, I don’t see what influence the cold feeling should have.

In the floor plan, I would definitely place the drip area on the other side. Be sure to think about the base cabinet with a waste system (drawer for residual waste directly at the main work area and directly under the countertop). The extractor hood, as shown in the plan, only works for small people (or for those who don’t care what can be seen in the pot). And then in the list of which appliances are all XXL size, the oven is still missing. I would also choose it in 90 cm width (tray width ~60 cm).

Otherwise: have fun with the kitchen!
