Hello everyone,

it's done, now it's time to plan the renovation measures.

An additional weatherproof parking space for vehicles with a parking spot in front will be added to the existing house. (The goal here is a closed space where a vintage car is to be parked.)

I have attached pictures showing where, for example, a garage could fit. The guest WC window behind it would be sacrificed, which is okay.

I have concerns that a prefabricated garage with a clinker brick look would look quite poor.

A carport could certainly be designed to be more visually compatible, but it is important that the car inside is very well protected.

Do you have any ideas on how this could be implemented or how to make it look nicer?

Thank you very much!

Dirk

What you are planning there, I really don't like. No, this is certainly not a Mies van der Rohe house, but it is successful Holsteiner everyday architecture with a Country Style touch. Don't ruin it. There is a garage for the vintage car and a very long driveway. In front, simply a carport for the everyday car, finished.

Hello Nordlys,

thank you for your reply, I can quite understand your spontaneous reaction.

Here in the forum, I am looking for help and ideas to implement the whole thing a bit more attractively/compatibly.

It is definitely certain that something will be built. Only for the "how" I am looking for a good alternative to the precast concrete garage directly at the house.

I would really be very happy if you have good ideas. ([woanders Parken ist leider keine...]).

Best regards, Dirk

I wouldn’t put anything there either.
The boundary construction also seems to be maxed out...
If another carport/garage, then one rotated 90 degrees at the front by the hedge.
You could also create a visual connection to the house with a trellis, which could be covered with [Wein] or climbing roses to match the country house, with an additional seating area underneath...

The path to the entrance can then be made a bit more appealing, all of this greatly enhances the front yard and entrance area :)

Just for understanding: The new garage would be directly against the house wall, i.e. putting in windows, relocating the downpipe of the rain gutter, etc.? And how do you then get from the actual garage to the house entrance? I can't quite imagine it, especially not as a prefabricated garage. I think you are planning a rather ugly blemish on your facade. Does the garage need a special width so that the existing garage is not an option? I would rather place a carport for the everyday car in the front yard and put the oldie in the garage at the back.

Wouldn't it make more sense to start a few trials with the bottom left corner of the property? Maybe also the bottom left corner of the house. Then perhaps put the "normal" garage and the vintage car garage into the existing garage.
