...the other way around...the one or other guest who might not be used to the kitchen may be grateful if the living/dining area and guest toilet are not separated by just a few centimeters of [Röhrenspantür]. Especially with open floor plans.

The first thing I do after coming home is washing my hands. It is convenient when the bathroom is near the door. And I also find distance from living areas practical (keyword noise).

Thank you for the answers, now I can understand a bit better why it is often done that way. (cheaper, easier, many people are not bothered by walking through the "dirty area") I would probably prefer something more in this direction:

With this you have
- discretion
- daylight
- you don't have to go through the entrance/dirty area
- location of the guest WC on the exterior wall

If the property allows it, great solution. But often it doesn't.

Yes, we also didn't feel like using the WC near the entrance area and solved it similarly.

But that's exactly the same as 90% of all floor plans, only you guys are treating yourselves to a [Windfangerker] for 10-20 thousand euros that others save on or that the development plan doesn't allow. But of course, it's a good solution.
