I think an important argument is also sound transmission. Sometimes using the toilet goes along with noises, and it seems more pleasant both for the toilet user and for the friends and relatives possibly sitting at the dining table eating bean soup if one hears as little of each other as possible. And the farther the guest WC is located, the easier it is to achieve this goal.

No idea what kind of gas you have, but as long as the toilet is not right next to the dining table with a door, the goal should always be achievable

I never speak about myself, always about others. When I am on the toilet, everything proceeds silently and afterwards it smells like roses.

The flush, for example, should not run directly on the wall next to the dining table, otherwise you can hear it quite well. There are many reasons to locate this room with all its smells and sounds at the edge of the building.

Or simply plan the pipe layout properly... I also wouldn't want the pipe in the wall next to the dining table, but I've never seen that anywhere.

Funny enough, you often see plans here where the water from the upstairs bathroom runs past the dining room... It's always a mystery to me why people do that.

With good insulation, I don't think that's a problem.

In my parents' house, the guest bathroom is also not in the entrance area. Instead, it is nicely wall-to-wall with the living room. More specifically: The toilet nestles against the sofa, of course with a wall in between. But you really hear everything. EVERYTHING. Therefore, I rather use the bathroom upstairs, although that also - surprise - is directly above the living room. You can also hear the "splashing" there. That's why, for us, the guest WC goes in the hallway.
