Ok I had used the term home theater incorrectly, it was supposed to be more of a small TV room. So a couch and a TV inside.

Planning without a basement. These are also just the first thoughts about whether such a room makes sense. I had considered the following scenarios. Visitors come with children, weather sometimes bad, which can happen in Germany. Children -> home theater, parents cozy at the table. Similarly, men want to watch football, women discuss handbags ;) Women want to watch their movie, men talk about roller shutter boxes. From the floor plan, I think such a room can also be nicely placed in the middle.

Just say right away that you actually want peace and quiet from the rest of the family ;)

We have our multipurpose room for that: equipped for guests and sometimes football for the husband, of course also with a TV. I find any further considerations silly, unless you call Cinemax your hobby.

I could really use it right now Yvonne (twins 6 months old). As I said, it is just a consideration. Maybe someone has such a TV room and has had great experiences with it.

Good evening,

We, ever since our kids have grown up - but not as a TV room, rather as a music room ;)

I see no disadvantages, as long as there is space available for such a room; instead, plenty of advantages ... including a wonderful retreat :D

Rhenish greetings

You forget the twins, who will insist on their TV rights for at least another 18 years ;)
Therefore, an additional room with a TV next to the living room with a TV makes more sense than just one TV room - because then the question is, where is the retreat ;)

If the space is not so ample, then one can also deviate from the usual layout

Living/Dining as one room and Kitchen as one room
or
Living/Dining/Kitchen as one large room
and instead
plan Living (TV) as one room and Dining/Kitchen as a larger communicative open space.
