To return to the starting point - the question - again: Against the background that another child is expected (?), it would be way too much work for me to carry everything up and then back down again. From my point of view, a more central placement - 1st floor - makes more sense. We also have the washing machine and dryer on the 1st floor. :-)

Even if I disqualify myself with this, I would like to point out that I obviously have no experience with a Townhaus (or Townhouse?). ;)

Best regards

Nice tip on the side: Some (very cheap) home insurance providers charge funny risk surcharges if the washing machine is not on the lowest level, i.e., the basement or ground floor (without basement). Or they mention something about it in the small print, and the policyholder is left standing clueless when it says: "What, the washing machine was on the upper floor?"

First of all, thank you for the many responses and the lively discussion. I probably overreacted a bit, for which I offer a sincere apology to Yvonne! It will probably not be possible in the first floor, as two equally sized children's rooms and a small WC with shower are planned here. Then most likely in the large master bathroom on the 2nd floor. But the hint from toxicmolotow is quite interesting and could also apply here. Maybe they simply do not allow it for insurance reasons or noise reasons.

Well, the noise probably doesn't matter there. ;) For my insurance, it also didn't matter where the washing machine is located.
