We installed lighting in the floor - however, this is no insignificant effort in planning/execution. In addition, you first have to find something affordable and nice... it is something for eternity, as it is embedded in the screed.

You need to precisely draw the current table with chairs (comfortable to get up) in the kitchen plan. Then draw the new table and bench with the most likely dimensions.

Then find the center of the table each time ... and see what points result from that. Possibly a rail system (can also be around the corner) solves the problem. You can also hang pendant lamps there and also spotlights.

In the past, there was a ceiling connection in the middle of the room and that was that. Then the lamps were routed on a monkey swing.

We searched for a long time and found nothing useful, except for one provider where the price started at 5000 euros. We have now designed this floor showcase ourselves and had it built by a professional. The picture shows our bathroom. The installation was not too difficult, as we could recess the box in the screed. We have now started selling the floor showcases. Costs incl. 1290 euros... I no longer want to do without mine... it is my pride and joy....

Phew, that's quite some advertising, isn't it? 1290 euros is really a hefty price - nice idea, definitely, but how does such a price break down?

Sorry, this was not meant to be an advertisement. I just remember how urgently I was looking for a floor display case. Nevertheless, the price is composed of the material and the labor hours. It is a stainless steel frame that is laser cut, beveled, and blasted. It is approximately 17 mm laminated safety glass, thus loadable up to 190 kg. Included is the lighting ... as I said, large companies offer from 5000 euros.

If you can afford it, I would definitely consult a lighting designer.

We once had an orientation meeting with one and were thrilled. They pay attention to things that the average person wouldn’t even think about. We have the money for them and have definitely reserved it. They are independent, only make suggestions, take lamps you already have into account, and don’t try to sell anything. You get a sophisticated plan for the electrical system (including communication) in return.

Floor display case, I’m considering doing something like that, on a larger scale, in the entrance area, but with natural untreated pebbles and spots in between. How scratch-resistant are these glasses? That’s my concern, especially in the entrance area where you sometimes bring a little stone in.
