Is an additional charge for high-quality lamps necessary?

You still got a good planner there :p There are definitely clear differences between cheap, inexpensive, and mid-priced. Cheap ones flicker, buzz, have different color temperatures, beam angles, poor workmanship, etc. You simply can't just swap lamps in lighting design because cheap knockoffs have different specifications. There are huge differences with spots as well. We also have quite a few spots (> 200). Here we have 20 years of spare parts supply and (almost) everything can be replaced. Bought online after long negotiations. Per spot including DALI power supply on average 400€ (we have various types of spots). There are never limits upwards. Design classics from well-known manufacturers can quickly cost five figures.

We sent our floor plans and exterior views to the dealer. He thought about it and during an on-site appointment we discussed where the lamps should go. The individual lamps were shown to us and then the amount of lamps was determined based on the lumens. We place great importance on indirect lighting, which is why, for example, no direct lighting is planned in the upstairs hallway. The planning was free of charge and is part of this dealer’s service, of course with the intention to also sell the proposed lamps. We won’t buy all the lamps there, but we also want to embed an LED strip along the stairs and for that we won’t take a €50 strip that might die after 2 years. We will certainly buy that from them.

We also had a lighting plan in December at a local lighting store, which consisted of two appointments. We wanted to have our self-taught amateur knowledge "checked" and "balanced." We didn’t expect any miracles, but we definitely got input in two or three places that we will implement as is. To not make a long story even longer: we will certainly buy some lamps there. For some lamps (golden fabric lamp for the bedroom, 850 euros) however, I definitely don’t see the added value.

We also want to illuminate with spots (surface-mounted spots). Those shown to us there cost about €250. On the internet, they start at around €30-50. The question now is whether the spots for, e.g., €100, so the middle range, can be equivalent to those for €250?

Equivalent maybe not. But they should be of good quality at that price. Photos help. My installation spots for kitchen lighting were even cheaper. Very simple design (you could also say run-of-the-mill, but exactly fitting in terms of look and lighting options), high-quality workmanship. So you have to look on a case-by-case basis. In the office, there are only Occhios in all variants. But as office ceiling lights, they just look cheap and out of place there.

It's the same everywhere: you get what you pay for. Of course, spots for 50€ provide light. Those for 100€ do as well. But if you want to buy more in 20 years, you'll have to spend 400€. And if it's coordinated lighting design, you must/should also stick to the planned ones.
