Hello everyone,
we are currently considering the lighting in the open space (kitchen, dining, and living room). Despite some negative comments, we would like to use LED recessed lamps. We have seen them several times and like them. The ceiling height is 2.45m.

In the kitchen, there are hanging cabinets and a extractor hood at the bottom of the plan, so under-cabinet lamps are planned there. On the right side of the kitchen is a floor-to-ceiling cabinet wall. Pendant lamps are to be installed above the peninsula, as well as above the dining table.
On the top wall of the plan, an LED light strip could be installed along the entire length; this is prepared so far.

So far, 9 recessed lamps with a 35° beam angle are planned in the living area; see the black dots and the yellow light cone.
In the kitchen, 2 recessed lamps are planned above the sink and 3 more as general lighting.
A wall lamp is prepared between the living and dining area (top of the plan). The 2 vertical lines are meant to represent a board covering the screws that attach the wooden ceiling to the beam. So, there is already a small separation here anyway. Nothing can be installed there either.
I still lack ideas for the dining area.
What are your opinions on the considerations? Is the number of lamps sufficient, or should a larger beam angle be chosen in the living area so that the light cones overlap more?

I would be happy to hear views/suggestions. Thank you very much.

It will look exactly like your drawing: completely overloaded. You wanted to hear opinions... I think with your described under-cabinet lights in the kitchen as well as pendant lights, you don’t need any additional LEDs in the kitchen.

but in the kitchen you do want a basic lighting or lighting above the sink. And in the living area we somehow can't get used to a lamp in the middle. If you only install recessed lights at the edges, there is little light in the middle by the coffee table. I have seen several rooms and I didn’t find it overloaded. Still, I am unsure how to do it. Objective opinions interest me for that reason. Maybe someone has some recessed lights and can share about them or even upload pictures.

"Factual opinions" is a bit like objective personal experiences ;-)

The plan also seems overloaded to me. For me, too much direct light from above, which I find uncomfortable. Ceiling spots are more like "cleaning light" for me. Possibly still charming in the hallway or bathroom, otherwise I don't find it nice. Especially in the living room, most people prefer dimmed, indirect light.

Similarly in the kitchen.

How would the recessed lighting opponents (no offense meant, please do not misunderstand) create light in the open space?

A hot tip: Have you ever thought about wall outlets? We have them in our current apartment, two each on opposite walls with lights that shine upwards and downwards.....very beautiful subdued light, but bright enough so that in our living room measuring 5.50m x 4.50m no additional light sources are needed.
