So we have currently switched from mowing ourselves with a battery mower to a robot. ...with over 450sqm once a week & having to dispose of the grass clippings eventually gets annoying even though we also love the gardening for relaxation and such. ...we now use the free time for and with the kids... or sports... so everyone benefits from it

It is also highly economical. Such a robot costs nothing more, about 500 euros. If you only calculate 1 hour of time saved per week, then the mower is already amortized in one season or one year.

There are few comparable things that are so profitable :)

Basically, I see advantages in a robot. Especially when you are not at home for some time. I am trying to find a time slot for mowing this week. However, it will probably not succeed because the lawn will be soaking wet. Mowing itself does not bother us, as we only have a small lawn - it is probably no more than 150 sqm - but it would make planning easier. At the moment, there is still a large trampoline there. No idea if that is detrimental to reliability. At the latest, when the trampoline loses its attractiveness, I wanted to take care of it.

The trampoline causes absolutely no problems.

Do control cables then need to be placed around it? The "foundation" consists of pipes that partially lie flat on/above the ground. Or is the obstacle detection reliable enough?

That is up to you, if you want it mowed underneath without the robot hitting the pipes, then you have to lay the cable around the pipes.

If it doesn't matter, just leave it as it is. Then it will just drive against them.

If you want to completely exclude it from mowing, you have to lay the cable around here.
