I think for 250 m² you don't necessarily need a robot. From 400 m² upwards it makes sense. But then not a cheap robotic mower, because those are way too loud. The high-quality robots (e.g. Husquarna) are hardly audible, but correspondingly expensive. For a large property, it can be worth it. I share a robotic mower with my neighbor, it covers both properties, we left a gap in the fence.

P.S.: Meanwhile, there are some brands whose robots are not dangerous for hedgehogs. It's best to inform yourself beforehand.

Please do not forget Gardena. Huqsvarna is written on every component.

Size is not the reason for a Robi but the permanent cut. For larger properties, one could also use a riding mower…

For decades, I have been using mulching mowers for lawn mowing, which cemetery gardeners also use. My first was from Stiga, still two-stroke, then came an Alko, now it is a Husquarna. The lawn is constantly lightly fertilized with it, similar to the robot, it grows nicely dense and suppresses clover and other things, is free of little flowers, you get some exercise and fun during the oil change and so on. Recommendations are the Stiga and Husquarna devices, they mulch better than Alko, but are more expensive. As an engine, I recommend Briggs and Stratton, they start up great, need hardly any oil, and are not too loud.

However, mine always looks a bit dirty afterwards. ;) So you don't have to mow yourself anymore, but robots still need some care. That can be set - in addition to appropriate sensors - by the way, also the setting not to mow in the rain.

Husqvarna sees no problem with mowing in the rain. Of course, it gets a bit dirtier, but the blades are clean. Regular blade replacement is important. The dirt is roughly removed and thorough cleaning is done when putting it away for winter.
