Field marshal's hill? Can you please explain?

We probably have a lot of soil left over – however, they announced topsoil – that will surely be gotten rid of. The problem is, if the terrace is high and level with the ground, there has to be a very high wall and many steps to get down to the lower level. If the level is higher – like grass – then it's difficult again in the direction of the neighbor.

Steps down from the house to the terrace would be a solution, but we definitely want it to be level with the ground. We find everything else really stupid.

The origin is that the house is built so high. That was taken into account regarding the backwater level and seems way too high to me. Even the neighbor's house, which is on a plot higher than ours, has its finished height lower than ours.

We did ask the architect several times and the value was apparently correct, but there surely could have been other solutions. Especially since at the corner plot it was not really clear which manhole cover had to be used, etc.

You have already described your solution. Exactly the way you want to do it looks good and won't cause any trouble. The terrace step might seem a bit drastic in the drawing, but hold 80 cm up to your leg. Suddenly, it's surprisingly small. If the lawn area then gains another 20 cm thanks to a slight slope, it will be relaxed anyway.

By the way: If you build near us, we'll take your soil if it’s any good ...
