Hello everyone,

we currently have a floor plan problem:

please take a look at the attached pictures:

The kitchen looks really narrow, doesn't it? For such a large kitchen (11.69 sqm), I think very little has been made out of it.

The kitchen is extremely tubular, which I don't like at all, but I don't know to what extent anything can be done here without changing the size of the house.

What comes to your mind about this? How do you find the kitchen?

In my opinion, it feels completely overwhelming... It totally lacks width.

I am open to suggestions of any kind

If you had managed to photograph the floor plan so that the measurements could be seen, one could say something about the dimensions.

In terms of the room shape, it wouldn’t be my kitchen, definitely not closed off, but the shape of the room has been seen many times like this.
What makes it overwhelming is the row of tall cabinets with the top unit immediately to the right (what is actually the point of the corner unit) and the 3D perspective.

But clearly, a room that is deeper than it is wide always has that kind of effect at first glance.

I got the screenshot like this from my general contractor. He didn’t photograph the measurements completely
It’s supposed to be closed with a glass sliding door, that’s already our condition. Of course, it’s a matter of taste...

The corner cabinet is totally unnecessary... No idea how someone can plan such a ******

The 3D perspective is good for visualizing the room, isn’t it? I never would have thought the room would feel like this if I had only looked at the floor plan.

The question is how I can solve the problem

I don't find it bad now, but rather old-fashioned. But if you want a closed kitchen, such a layout is not the worst. What did you have in mind? Island? The row spacing on your plan is roughly okay. It doesn't get more ergonomic if there's more free space in the middle. Then the rows are too far apart. But measurements would really be helpful. I just wouldn't do U-shaped areas. That only creates 2 awkward corner cabinets. Do you really need the seating in the kitchen? That makes everything much more complicated. Otherwise, I would place two room-length rows along the hallway wall and the long outer wall. But you won't be able to make anything super modern out of this room.

My kitchen wouldn't be that either. What would absolutely bother me is, on the one hand, the route with full shopping bags to the kitchen, I find that completely impractical. I also think it totally looks like the kitchen is a necessary evil, but not a room where you like to spend time... Well, not everyone likes to cook or bake. I would completely omit the row under the window if it absolutely has to stay like that.

True, who would have thought what your kitchen looks like in the wide-angle perspective while you are crouching with your head lying on the kitchen countertop
