Hello,

my girlfriend and I want to completely renovate a house from the 60s. We really like the location and the house. We would just like to change the layout a bit. For this, the entrance will be relocated and the old kitchen will basically become the entrance. However, we are not exactly sure where we want the kitchen. We have two ideas where it would fit well. One is in the extension, and the other is where the living room used to be. But we are not really sure which we prefer. The two versions are attached. It is important to us that you can go from the kitchen to the terrace. That would be the case in both versions. If the kitchen is in the extension, we have the fireplace right next to the living room. If the kitchen is in the old living room, we would "only" be able to use the fireplace in the dining room, and that would be further away from the new living room. Basically, we want everything to be open. However, we want to make the kitchen separable by a double door/sliding door. But what is more practical? What will be annoying in the future? Which layout has more potential?

I would put the kitchen in the old living area and the living room in the extension. I really like the floor plan.

Best regards milkie

However, the extension with more windows/light. One window seems quite little to me.

Statics will certainly become interesting if the exterior wall is to be removed.

We will first see what our architect says and what he considers more sensible. And whether all of this is feasible. We are aware that we want to renovate and change a lot. But the house has a good structure. And I think it is important for us to have quiet in the living room and to be able to get to the terrace from the kitchen. From the living room, it is not that important. In any case, all the windows will be replaced and a few new ones added. The floor plans are initially just ideas and more sketches. Whether it is feasible that way, we do not know yet. That will all be clarified later. The only important thing is the general arrangement of the rooms. Which one is better.

No one has an idea? We are now putting the kitchen where the living room was. The living room will be moved to the extension. There, the wall to the dining room will be knocked down. Between the dining room and the kitchen, there will be a double glass sliding door. From the hallway, you can go directly into the kitchen. Probably a glass door so more light comes into the hallway. And the kitchen will have a nice row with a large island plus a counter :-)
