I don't think that wants to reduce the repayment any further. Therefore, the comment about saving and repaying later is the right approach. Exactly my opinion.

We built in 2012 and at that time received 2 KFW loans of €50,000 each for 2 units (house + granny flat) at around 2%. At that time, the KFW loans still had a special right of termination, so you could cancel at any time. We then terminated in 2016 and refinanced with a loan from the bank. If it had continued now, we would have normally completed the follow-up financing with the other component, which is also expiring.

I don't understand the feedback? What is supposed to be stupid about that? Everyone wants an option for special repayment in the loan and pays a surcharge for it. Then they say (not referring to the OP) that the repayment should preferably be under 2% to remain flexible, and it will very, very certainly be specially repaid so as not to pay off over 30 years, and then people get upset here when I suggest exactly that to save on follow-up financing.

I have wondered about that too. For me, after 10 years, something like 33k€ from the KfW remains. Unfortunately, I am definitely not able to save up and repay this amount; I am too poor for that. The rest will continue for another five years. Whether my bank is "up for it" to take over the small amount then and under what conditions? No idea, ask me in 2028...
