The entrance and exit from the garage must be possible without any problems. Otherwise, sooner or later you will no longer use it for the car.
Who wants to maneuver so much every time?
Well, people are so different...
OF COURSE it is nice to have a "straight" driveway to a garage, no question.
BUT if it is not possible otherwise due to construction reasons and because of the slope (just like with us, the architect and we went through and weighed MANY MANY ideas), then I prefer to have a garage where you can barely get in with a smaller car (and with a slightly bigger one with one correction) rather than completely do without a garage.
Apparently, there are different opinions on this.
Just tried it with our carport that has existed for 20 years; it has an entrance width of only 250cm, with a distance of 580cm to the "back." You can get in without any problems without correcting with a small car (Polo), with our Passat you have to reverse once.
So for 20 years when parking (in the rain, late at night, ...) we always reverse once, and NEVER would I (or my wife) have thought about parking outside because it would be too complicated.
What will you do if your car should become significantly bigger again?
Our car will permanently get smaller, so that’s fine (if the garage, as explained for the past week, is moved 50cm to increase the maneuvering space). Nice of you not to trust us.
