Good evening everyone!
Our drywall installer started working this week. Today was the first time we encountered him. From a layperson's perspective, he has done his work well and quickly so far. However, one thing really upset me: He smokes during work. And not just one or two, but constantly. In the 10 minutes I was there, he smoked two cigarettes. As soon as he finished one, he lit the next. This probably went on all day and on previous days as well. When I came into the house, luckily I didn’t notice any significant cigarette smell. He also had one or two windows open. But now our house is sealed and as non-smokers, we don’t want smoking inside the house anymore. Especially not this frequently. At the moment only the attic is done, but gradually the walls will be done too, into which the smoke will then seep. So from a health perspective, this is unacceptable for us. I understand that as homeowners, we can of course prohibit it. On the other hand, I fear that with such a chain smoker, the work might suffer and/or take longer if smoking is banned. Or, in the worst case, out of resentment, he might not do his work properly. We have a surveyor, so it would at least be noticed, but we also want to move in at some point and not have to redo everything. He will be in the house for a few more days. Should we address it or rather not?
