Just take a look at the state building code.

So I found something on Google with 3 keywords within 3 seconds. The official website of the Serviceportal Niedersachsen. From there you can navigate further. Or you can simply call the building authority. I know, it's completely crazy, just asking the people who ultimately decide, instead of people on the internet, whom you don't even know if they have any expertise at all.

Somehow it seems like nowadays there are more and more people who like irony, tease the questioners, and well. Of course I googled.

Calling the building authority? Do you know how the officials/employees often are nowadays? They first check what kind of person you are, maybe dig out the old building application, etc. Do you think they want to do you a favor? They might have their eye on you and if you are 10 cm too close to the building boundary, there will be trouble. Budgets are all tight. If the carport is exemption from approval, no one at the office needs to find out. In my 60 years, I have seen enough horses vomiting. Sorry.

Why should some forum members have no idea? Maybe one of them has built such a carport themselves and shares their experience. I just have to pick out what I need.

It's not life-threatening anyway. Somehow you manage. I am also looking for answers on how to interpret the data. It says on the internet when a carport is exempt from approval, but how I have to interpret that is the question.

But thanks for your words

According to the service portal, there are differences in the individual cities and municipalities. Therefore, no one can tell you anything as long as it is not known where in Lower Saxony you are building... in Hanover, different minor details may apply than in Helmstedt, Aurich, or Göttingen...

Why would you make such an important decision without consulting an expert when you have no idea yourself?

What does your planner say about the project? They should know the conditions on site.

I read up on the relevant development plan, the state building code of the federal state, and then talked to my neighbor and obtained his consent in writing. Then I built the CP. I suspect the building authority will not find out that I built a CP.

Strictly speaking, you have to inform the building authority that you built the CP with the corresponding plan documents. Unfortunately, I forgot that. What a mess.

Which planner? It is an existing house. That is silly and unobjective. They have no interest and no time to deal with old stuff that is already settled. Many things are on the internet. That doesn’t have to be all correct. Building codes are not open to interpretation, but clear. The only thing: you just have to apply them and not make the building boundary into the property boundary. According to your drawing, you intend to build 6 meters border construction. That’s possible.
