In my opinion, as a boundary construction - without physical separation - it is not permissible.
Only the structures named in the respective state building codes are conclusively privileged as boundary constructions.
If an additional use is "added on," this privilege no longer exists.
Consequence: Normal distance must then be maintained.
This also applies to separate roof/balcony constructions. The latter must also maintain distance, even if it hovers 1 cm above the carport / garage roof.
Without boundary construction, of course, this is possible.
