Is it sensible to install windows before the exterior insulation system (WDVS)?

the following question. Does it make sense or is it common to install the windows before applying the exterior insulation and finishing system [WDVS]?

Due to various delays in construction, my client is considering completing this point next year. However, he would like to have the building envelope closed by then. The windows could still be delivered and installed this year.

I have concerns, however, because the window has to be sealed against the insulation protruding over the window frame. Whether it is possible to achieve a neat and airtight seal afterwards when installing the [WDVS] is at least questionable to me.

Yes, first windows, then ETICS is common and also makes sense. The only disadvantage I see is that in the distant future it will be harder to replace the windows because the frame is located between the plaster and the ETICS.

I think that the interior plaster in the reveal is applied beforehand. Then the window frame would abut the unplastered ETICS from the inside. What exactly do you mean by the plaster?

So, currently carried out by us as follows: First, installation of the windows with Kompriband (black tape) and afterwards the ETICS is applied with reinforcing mesh on the outside of the window reveals. With us, the roller shutter/blind rails were then embedded on the outside.
