Is it possible to renovate a residential house from 1954 into an energy-efficient house? How?

So, we haven't been in touch for a long time but we were not inactive.

We have compiled, planned and discarded KVAs, and planned again.
We are now at costs of about 150 thousand € for the complete renovation of the house/electrics/heating.

Still missing are painting work for the interior and floor coverings (furnishing we want to do ourselves).

Will upload a few more photos soon.

I have another question for the experts: the bedroom on the upper floor faces exactly south with the current 2 windows. Do you think it makes sense to also install a skylight to the east or west?

I am rather considering incorporating the floor above into the room and making the ceiling beams visible in the room.

Then leave it at that, and in this context also make use of the topmost window. Besides, according to my assessment of the house's construction, the raising of the gable windows mentioned in the facade picture is at least not feasible with reasonable effort.

I still see some forensic work to be done until the construction of the "grown" current state is clarified; and some planning course corrections will result from it. It will be a beautiful and very individual home for the family, but in several places quite different from what was originally thought.

No, but an air conditioner.

Really? I don’t need an air conditioner to sleep. That’s what windows are for. I’m not that sensitive.

Bedroom in the south, under the roof in the extension is quite something...

But well - if it’s a bit colder and windier up there with you, no roosters or trucks bothering, then airing out surely works too. Here in the south, we would have spent the last weeks in that room at about 30°C...
