One should respect his wish, right?

That is obvious. I never once wrote that she does not accept or respect it. It's just that now alternatives are being sought.

No matter what you write, it is sometimes taken in completely different directions.

The question was whether there is a possibility for financing without a separation agreement, nothing more and nothing less.

Thanks to those who provide answers to the questions and contribute alternative ideas.

I would advise your girlfriend to go to a loan broker and obtain offers for financing without a separation agreement. If such offers exist: bingo, plan A works. If not: consider plan B (e.g., rent first, then buy at a fixed price, etc.) The loan broker saves many personal errands.

If a bank is concerned that an ex-partner might make claims, I would take that seriously and seek legally sound advice in order not to fall into any stupid trap. Surely many forum members here have knowledge, insights, and experiences – but I would not attribute the value of legal advice to any text here.

In principle, yes...
But the way it reads, I would bet that she left him. And in this situation, it’s not reason acting, but hurt... I know this all too well, I’ve been going through this for three years... and it doesn’t stop.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she finds a solution!

She has already been to a broker. However, the conversation was only conducted in a way that the bank with the best offer wants an agreement. But no alternatives were discussed at all.

Next week she has another appointment with a broker and this time she has noted down all the questions.

She definitely takes it seriously. She is an academic and not stupid or inarticulate. It is about not letting him put obstacles in her way in her future planning.

Here in this thread, I just want to get tips on how her wish might still be implemented.
