Is it dangerous to place the refrigerator in the storage room?

It was clear to us that the kitchen in our house is not ideally laid out, existing property, not a new build.

Problem: the room has an L-shape where the actual kitchen is located, and this is completely "covered" by the kitchen units, but without an integrated refrigerator. We bought a new, beautiful refrigerator, but: there is no suitable place within the kitchen to put it.

The L-shape along the window and a side wall is full, the kitchen is not large, and the refrigerator would have to stand freely against an opposite wall, which is visually and spatially awkward.

A small storage room branches off from the kitchen. Maybe 2.5 sqm in size, full of shelves. Inside there is a circular ventilation leading to the exterior wall. If we remove a shelf, the refrigerator would have a perfect place there.

But my husband thinks that operating a refrigerator in such a small room where the air does not naturally circulate freely might be dangerous?

If this "storage room" is a pantry in the traditional sense, the refrigerator disturbs the temperature consistency in the room a bit. In a pure canned goods and dry goods storage, however, it does not cause any disturbance.

Dangerous - what is that supposed to mean?
If the thing leaks and all its refrigerant evaporates, it probably dissipates more slowly there. But otherwise?

The question is whether a refrigerator can stand in a 2.5 sqm small room?! It can, but ventilated would be better, purely for reasons of ambient temperature and thus the efficiency (and lifespan of the device).

It generates heat when cooling. So it has to be able to vent, otherwise it cools against its own heat, which is not exactly good for power consumption and lifespan. So, will it get rid of it in the 2.4 sqm?

A cabinet for a cabinet?
If that is your main refrigerator, I am completely against placing it outside the food preparation area, especially with a door in between... far too complicated!

Otherwise, it helps in a forum to post a photo or floor plan so that forum members can give tips that the questioner wouldn’t think of themselves

Yes, that’s supposed to be the main refrigerator. But the pantry is only 1 meter next to the stove, so personally that wouldn’t bother me compared to a refrigerator positioned in a completely inconvenient way.

I think if we ever replace this kitchen, it will have to be planned differently from the start. For the moment, we probably won’t have any other option but to have it either awkwardly on the wall in the kitchen or in the pantry. If the kitchen gets redone, this dishwasher will have to go somewhere else. But that’s unlikely to happen in the next 5 years, unless we hit the lottery.
