Is a basement in a single-family house useful or rather too expensive?

In the construction areas in our immediate vicinity with about 150 building plots, exactly 2 households have built with a basement.

...at that price, I would also have a plot size like that and considered building without a basement, but with compensatory space on the ground floor instead. Or a garage or extension or, or... and I almost assume that in your area the construction costs themselves are somewhat cheaper.

We paid 105 (in the district town, but still only a medium center without a cinema) and get 10 of that back as a child bonus if we live there for 10 years with the children.
