we have lime-cement plaster in our bathrooms. Our site manager advises us to apply lime smooth plaster over it and then either paint it immediately or wallpaper it. Does anyone have experience with this?

Sabine. Bathrooms in single-family houses are not real wet rooms. Unlike in swimming pools, for example. Therefore, I think it is technically completely sufficient to smooth the lime-cement plaster with normal filler, we used Sto fill. Whether you then wallpaper or paint directly is a matter of taste. I would definitely use a latex paint for the ceiling (example: Sto opticryl). Since the bucket is not empty then, paint the walls as well. Why: Especially above the shower and bathtub, steam does rise and condenses at the ceiling. That is a source of mold. Latex seals. Moisture does not penetrate the material underneath.
