Active cooling must be taken into account when calculating the energy demand, then you quickly exceed the threshold value of the Energy Saving Ordinance classification...

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I wouldn’t have thought that. So it must be thicker walls, better windows, or something else in order to be taken into account in the calculation. KFW is ultimately just number crunching.

A grumpy neighbor or a vengeful lizard – and within the first 10 years you then have to repay the repayment grant within a short period, with KfW-40 that would be 24 grand, 40-Plus even 30 grand. With the popular pseudo granny flat, it would be double accordingly. A fine possibly on top. So you should first keep the repayment grant in cash instead of using it for the outdoor facilities.

Even if that's not your actual question, you know that your ventilation completely switches off when it's too warm outside? A controlled residential ventilation system shouldn't idle without throughput for too long either.

Our energy consultant said exactly about this question that he would have to calculate according to a different DIN standard, but - at least in our case - that would be possible. An air conditioning system is apparently therefore not a fundamental exclusion criterion.

Would the situation look different if, instead of thicker windows, more photovoltaics were installed on the roof? At least then you would benefit from it in all seasons and could use the surplus in summer sensibly?
