Hello Ikea fans,

despite researching here in the forum and across the internet and many Ikea PDFs, I still don't really know at what height I need to attach the Metod hanging rail so that the wall cabinets in my kitchen hang with the top edge exactly at 245 cm.

However, I now know in great detail how to attach this rail alone or with two people and how to hang the cabinets on it. But I could only name the correct height for base cabinets, as this is stated in the Ikea documents. In their example, 60 cm of space between base cabinets and wall cabinets is recommended, and "roughly" another 60 cm to the upper hanging rail is shown. For me, that is meaningless.

I need to solve the following two problems by tomorrow morning so that the carpenter can carry out the final assembly:

1. At what height do I need to attach the hanging rail so that the wall cabinets, which are 100 cm high, hang with the top edge at a height of 245 cm and thus rest on the tile backsplash?

2. Is about 5 cm distance to the ceiling enough so that I can still hang the wall cabinets? Can they possibly be slid or lined up onto the rail?

I am very grateful for quick advice.

hello ruffy85,
In the assembly instructions the dimensions for the 220 barrier = rail height 2.22m, for the 240 height it is 2.42m lower edge of the rail, this is 6cm high resulting in 2.48 total height. 8cm baseboard 240cm corpus = 248cm. I also had this in my kitchen, it is only 250cm high and it worked without problems.
to now reach 245cm with the top edge of your wall cabinets you have to subtract 6cm from this dimension.
the lower edge of the rail for your wall cabinets would then be 239cm.

the 5cm upwards is more than enough, you only need 1.5 to 2cm.
best regards robi

Thank you very much for your quick response, Robi.

With the help of your text, I have now fully understood this PDF from IKEA. I had wondered until now what they wanted to tell me with the height of cabinets in cm and distances to a strip in mm, once with indication of the base height, once without explicit indication of the base height.

It is, as you write, quite simple. Top edge of the cabinet minus six centimeters is the bottom edge of the hanging rail, or top edge of the hanging rail is the same as the top edge of the cabinets. I searched in vain for such a text in the IKEA documents.
