No, we haven't done a soil survey yet.

A few puddles would be nice... Unfortunately, it really is a small lake... and has been for weeks...

You do not understand the principle of ring drainage. How have fields and plots been drained on the North Sea for centuries? You surround the area to be drained with 1 ditch, which drains into a larger one, which in turn drains into a [Sielzug], whose outlet is at the dike; at low tide, you open the [Sielzug] and the water from the ditches flows out. It accumulates in them, it seeps out sideways from the ground. That is the original form of ring drainage Q. Please act only after you have sought advice from a civil engineer specializing in deep construction or a landscape gardener. By the way: Your land looks like a [Mulde]. Possibly soil needs to be added in the middle. It must be higher in the middle than at the edges. - Karsten

We are aware that we need to pile up some soil.

So you mean a drainage around the property would be enough?

Somehow I doubt that...

Well, just ask the civil engineer....I think it will be sufficient.

How did you decide and is everything dry so far?

Which laying grid did you decide on?

-------------------------------------------------------------

According to the commissioned geologist, our plot is very clayey in the upper third. In addition, our plot is located at the lower part of the slope, so water accumulates on our property during heavy or continuous rain.

To have a dry garden, our geologist recommended laying a drainage across the entire width of the plot at the upper part. Furthermore, a drainage should be placed around the house.

We have a combined sewer. According to verbal information from the municipality, we are allowed to discharge the rainwater collected via the drainages directly into the combined sewer.

Can someone tell me how much the additional costs for these measures are? We would have 30m width at the upper edge of the plot, plus approximately 55m around the perimeter of the foundation.

Since our property is not very large, I created a ring around the lawn area. I initially wanted to lay more, but digging by hand was no longer worth it for me. The company took care of it around the house.
