In which direction should country house floorboards be laid?

Yes..I am familiar with the "rules" regarding the light source. I'm just a bit unsure because of the dimensions. If I lay it crosswise, I have to cut almost every plank. If I lay it lengthwise, I can sometimes lay two side by side in full length. That's why I'm a bit uncertain..

Just try it out and see how it looks. Usually the rule turns out to be correct anyway.

I have a question about that as well. We will be laying large Lindura wooden flooring in the living/dining area and kitchen (L-shape). The sizes are either 2600x320 or 2200x270mm. Now, we have light coming in from the south, west, and north. In which direction would you lay the floor? From the gut: From south to north (we did it that way too with the L-shaped living/dining/kitchen area). But you probably won't get around trying it out.

That was also my first thought. Especially since the longitudinally oriented kitchen island also "stretches" the room. But other opinions are always interesting and we are gladly open to being proven otherwise if necessary.
