Hello,

now a question came up during the planning... the Metod legs are height adjustable but according to the description only so that the kitchen can stand straight on uneven floors. The plinths are accordingly also 8cm high. In my current kitchen the legs are also 8cm and the cabinets are 80cm high. I find that low even though I am only 1.70m tall. If you wash dishes for a longer time your back hurts. Is there a way to get the plinths higher? After all, I don't know exactly where the tile backsplash starts. If it sits higher afterwards then I have space between the backsplash and the start of the kitchen. (I don't know yet where the tile backsplash starts, since the rooms are still under construction but 2 days before I pick up the kitchen at Ikea I will know that and can plan accordingly).

Hello, unfortunately there are no taller Förbättra plinth panels. You could use Capita legs or something from a third party and make the panel yourself out of wood.

But if the cabinets are 80cm, the base adds another 8, and then the countertop on top of that... You’re already at 91-92cm. That should actually be enough for 1.70m, right...? Otherwise, I have another idea: put square beams on the floor, maybe 6x6cm. One beam running along the back wall, one at the front where the base would be. Screw an OSB board on top of that, and you could build the kitchen on this platform and gain another 8cm in height. That’s how we’ll do it with our new kitchen. The floor will be covered with laminate, and I’ll also make a continuous base panel from it.

Bye, Micha

In our new Metod kitchen, we have the problem that we need to compensate for almost 3 cm height difference and are therefore partly dependent on a plinth height of 10 cm. According to Ikea, you can still buy the old Faktum plinths (16 cm) online. However, we do not want to pay the delivery price of 29 €, as the plinth itself only costs 24 €. We will now buy a decoration strip (220 cm high) and saw it accordingly. One board is enough for everything and is therefore a cost-effective alternative.

I assume you mean a side panel, not a trim strip. How do you want to attach it to the legs? Best regards Section Chief

Depending on the type of feet used, for example, pipe clamps for installation pipes might be suitable: They are available in electrical supplies in various diameters. Regards, IKEA-Freund
