IKEA oven: high voltage or normal socket?

Dear forum,

what just came to mind while planning the kitchen: We want to separate the cooktop and oven/microwave in the room. The cooktop will be installed on the wall side at the high-voltage connection available there.

The oven, microwave, and refrigerator should be installed at handle height on the opposite side. Only "normal" sockets are available there. Is that a problem?

In the installation instructions, for example from the Kulinarisk oven, it looks like you have to connect cables and not just simply plug in the oven.

Hello,
For example, with the KULINARISK with pyrolysis it says:
Minimum required fuse: 16 A.
Voltage: 220-240V.
For fixed installation. Must be connected by a qualified installer.

Also in the manual: Total power 3480 W

With a power of 3480 W, a current of 15.13 A results. Regardless of whether the oven is connected to a socket via a plug or hardwired, the power requirement necessitates a separate fuse for the connection.
In other words, an electrician must run a dedicated line for the oven from the fuse box.

For the microwave, the same may apply depending on the model.

Hi,

the electrician told us that the large appliances should be connected to their own circuit breaker and that the fridge and stove should definitely be protected with an RCD.

Hi,

I am also in the process of setting up a new kitchen and have a similar configuration:

So far, I have connected the stove ceramic hob to a stove connection socket (protected by 3 circuit breakers).

The "new" induction hob should stay in the same place and should be able to be connected to the existing stove connection socket without any problems.

The oven "Kulinarisk" and steam oven "Kulinarisk" need to be on the other side of the kitchen. I now want to take 2 new circuit breakers and run 3x 1.5 cables from there.

Question:

Should I also connect both devices with stove connection sockets?

Are the power ratings sufficient??

Thank you very much.

Regards

Jens

The oven requires one phase. So 1 time 16 amperes. You could mount a regular Schuko plug on the oven's power cable and plug it into a normal socket. Ideally one that is protected by a separate fuse, since the oven can draw almost the full 16 amperes from the socket depending on usage.

The induction hob requires 2 phases of 16 amperes each. That means you could theoretically (and practically) use the existing stove connection socket where three phases should arrive (so 5 cables: 3 times phase, 1 neutral conductor, 1 protective conductor) for both.

--> one phase oven, two phases induction hob

This is permitted and is often done when a normal stove, consisting of an oven including a hob (which requires three phases), is to be replaced by a combination of oven and separate hob.

I have done the same at home. Only that I also connected the microwave (which sits directly above the oven) to the one phase for the oven. It is to be assumed that the oven requires less than 16 amperes unless the self-cleaning function is running or you are heating it to 300°C. This leaves enough reserve for the microwave, which itself also rarely runs at full power.

However, you should not connect the oven to a circuit where other accessible sockets are also connected. Because the oven and e.g. vacuum cleaner running at the same time would definitely exceed the 16 amperes and the fuse would trip.
