Hello, while looking for a simple tall cabinet for our already existing kitchen (not from Ikea), an employee recommended the Ikea Metod tall cabinet. We bought this tall cabinet yesterday, along with the Metod plastic feet and the Metod plinth.
While assembling the corpus, I noticed that the cabinet is supposed to be mounted on the wall, more precisely on a rail. The employee didn’t mention that. When we then mounted the plastic feet, we had serious doubts about how these 4 little feet, which don’t even sit firmly (one foot wobbled back and forth and kept falling off), were supposed to hold a 2-meter tall cabinet, including door and shelves. The plinth is also made of plastic and does not contribute to stability. Besides, it was impossible for us to attach this plinth. After sawing it, the sides and front/back sides didn’t fit properly together, and the clips you’re supposed to slide into the plinth and connect to the feet caused countless blisters on our fingers.
At the moment, the cabinet is just lying in our living room because we don’t dare to put it on the wobbly feet.
What should we do now? Is it even possible to set up the cabinet without wall mounting? Do the Capita feet provide more stability? Has anyone had similar problems or perhaps a more detailed manual?
I’m grateful for any useful advice.
