Hello everyone,
I wanted to get back to you to report.
So I actually bought the kitchen without fronts, after I couldn’t bring myself to take a Sävedal or something else that was available. Getting black Laxarby white is no fun either, especially since it no longer looks like real wood but like lacquered fronts. So now I’m making the fronts myself, or rather using prefabricated glued wood panels from the hardware store. They come in sizes that pretty much exactly match those of the drawers I chose for the cabinets. I decided on the visual layout of three drawers. At the bottom an 80x40cm, then above two 80x20cm. Exactly these dimensions are already available as pre-cut glued wood panels in 18mm thickness. However, I think the original fronts are a bit smaller, because all three boards stacked on top of each other unfortunately don’t quite fit on the cabinet. So I will have to plane a bit. Works for me so far, at most I still have to saw the larger panels and to counteract warping I will install battens behind them. If something does warp, well, I don’t find that so bad either, after all, it’s a country house kitchen. It also fits quite well with my rustic red Swedish house, so all good.
But now I would still like to double-check whether the holes I have to drill in the boards really need to be in the positions that the Utrusta drilling template tells me? When I simply measure with the drawer hung, it doesn’t quite match the dimensions on the template. But I’d rather not have to build the fronts multiple times, so I’m asking here again.
Thanks already for reading and sunny greetings
Annette
