Hello everyone,

Last week I saw and bought the double sink domsjö in the clearance section for €79. When I asked in the kitchen department, I was told that it is suitable for both Faktum and Metod. Today, while installing it in my new Metod carcass, I realized that this is not the case! The extra cross connections for the carcass that came with the sink do not fit the drilled holes in the base cabinet. It is also not possible to use the rear cross brace on the carcass as the manual says.

To keep it short and spare you further details: Does anyone here know more precisely if there are two different models of the Domsjö double sink for Faktum and Metod?

Hello,

yes, it exists.

METOD: Article number: 799.316.50
Length: 83 cm
Depth: 66 cm
Height: 25 cm

FAKTUM: Article number: 100.491.43
Length: 82.0 cm
Height: 25.0 cm
Depth: 64.0 cm

If the lower depth is not a problem, I would drill the holes for the braces myself and use the sink.

The lesser depth is rather an advantage, as I will be installing a 60cm countertop and not a 63cm countertop, so the sink will not stick out as far. I can do the drilling myself. It also seems that the old sink has a better solution with the upper water outlet. While with the new sink two drainage hoses have to be connected at the back, with the old one this is solved within the ceramic, so that the excess water is directed through the ceramic into the main drain and not through two additional hoses to be connected (hope this is explained somewhat understandably).

Do you happen to know if the cross braces are meant to support the sink (meaning that the sink rests directly on them) or if the cross braces serve only to stabilize the cabinet (so that the sink does not have to rest directly on them)?

Unfortunately, I do not know that, but I do know that the row of holes on FAKTUM is 20 mm from the front edge of the cabinet, the holes are spaced 32 mm apart, and the first hole is 46 mm from the horizontal edge of the cabinet. Thank you, Ikea expert.

So the IKEA employee from the kitchen department told me that the cross braces do not support the weight of the sink but are only responsible for the cabinet stability.

Your link is very interesting. If that is really the case, there will be a lawsuit on my part. The sink will be connected tomorrow and I will test it right away. I will report here when I know more.
