We bought a few products from the new Besta. On the one hand, because it is quite versatile, on the other hand, because we have a lot of Ikea furniture and have always been satisfied with the quality. That has now changed dramatically.
It already starts with the drawer fronts. The plastic cam connectors, absolute junk. Then the adjustment options for the drawers, you tear your fingers on these tiny knurled screws. It’s practically impossible to make an adjustment when the drawers are filled and have therefore settled.
The drawers themselves cannot be pulled out completely. We use them as a storage for our CDs. The rear part of the drawer cannot be used because otherwise you wouldn’t be able to get the CDs out anymore.
It goes on with the feet of the carcasses. Normally, I know it this way: The threads of the bolts go all the way through so that you can adjust the height from the inside with a wrench. With Besta, you can only adjust the feet from below. So you lift, turn a few millimeters, put it down. Crap, still wobbles. So do it again until you finally get it right.
Back panels of the carcasses. Only conditionally suitable as a storage shelf for Hi-Fi devices. Because not deep enough, the cabling hits the back panel. Now IKEA certainly cannot consider the dimensions of all possible devices. But at least it should offer a suitable shelf cross to stabilize the carcass if you have to assemble it without a back panel.
So I am very disappointed. Ikea seems to have taken Roller as a role model here.
