Electric fence?!
It's not that bad, he loves the animals and likes to pet them. He has a great time with them when we go on vacation at the farm (holiday apartment). Of course, you can't keep away all the animals, and you shouldn't be that isolated either. It's partly also about the feeling of safety.

I am interested in your prairie garden and lawn. Could you please post some photos?
I am currently planning the garden to scale on the computer and will show you later. How wide should the space for the hedge or prairie beds as a property boundary be at least?
Should one install edging stones between the bed and the lawn or is a lawn edging stone enough?
What comes between the bed and the neighboring property?

Place stones between the flower bed and the lawn. The stones should be somewhat wider and flat. Bury them in the ground so that they are flush. Then you can drive over them with the lawn mower and don't have to do manual touch-ups.

Just like the oak beams are recessed in our place

The space required for the hedge depends on which plants you want. Thuja might need a bit less, but if you want flowering shrubs, they can sometimes grow up to 5m high and 3-4m wide. Our planting strip itself is a bit narrow because we chose the strip first and then the plants. It is curved, with a width of 1.2m to 0.5m, the narrow spots now mostly have smaller shrubs.

There was already a fence everywhere towards the neighbors, but we made the one towards the street ourselves. That definitely depends on personal taste.

Theoretically, you can also do without stones between the lawn and the shrub bed. Under the shrubs, a weed barrier fabric and bark mulch should keep the weeds somewhat under control if you don't want lawn under the shrubs.

Good to know I have about 50 sqm in front of the house and they are to be designed as a prairie garden.

Gravel or crushed stone under the stones or is that not necessary?
