@ ypg:

Thanks, I don’t want to go into everything in detail now. Just one thing: Exactly the architect designed the entrance area "the way it is now," previously the door was equally visible. Just as a side note. The solution as it is now is better because when entering (entrance --> living) you don't walk into a wall. The only comment he made

What you list as disadvantages (except for the WC) are exactly and deliberately chosen details which we see as advantages.

And I am also sure about the measurements being standard sizes, since it was done as EL and these are not the first walls we are building.

How, if you sugarcoat all the mistakes?

There are no more common window sizes since the window manufacturers do without a large stock and only produce according to measurements.

Maybe that should be a reason for you to consult a professional?!

But of course. You are already in the “I am in love with my design, so I defend everything” phase... that is not a good starting point for discussion or advice and improvement.

Please do not assume the current conditions. Comparing the requirements of a house with an apartment always leads to botched results. Free yourself from your previous constraints - you are now planning your castle.

Regarding openness, always differentiate between retreat options and generosity. I am also happy to tear down as many walls as possible. But that doesn’t help if the livability goes out the window.

The story with the architect would have interested me... It seems to have been traumatic.
However, you absolutely need some architect or draftsman for the project - otherwise it is not allowed in Germany.

Maybe someone else would like to puzzle a bit with you. I would also take a look at it later.

We are talking about windows. If you mean ones from the hardware store, yes, they have a standard.

I somehow don’t understand your sentence in connection with walls: do you want to brick yourselves?

Regarding the architect: I can imagine that you only had him to draw in your specifications or he was simply bad?!

I see it differently.

So far, you have mostly pointed out things that, in my opinion, fall under different tastes. Rather, I could assume my counterarguments are not being heard (or not being addressed).

Yes, the toilet is not perfectly positioned, I lack a solution here.
Yes, the corner of the pantry is small. I had offered a possible solution for this.

I’m happy to take up your points. For the most part, we have already thought about most of them. When I communicate this to you, it seems like I’m resistant to advice, because for various reasons we exactly decided on these points.
Just as we don’t like every design shown here, it is of course the same if you don’t like every corner of our designs. But as already written, most of it is a matter of taste. This is not our first build, so I consider myself not completely naive. Furthermore, there is experience in construction. What I want to avoid, however, are building errors, and what I want to at least think about are your suggestions. BUT I will not implement everything, that’s just how it is unfortunately.

Wrong, the original quote referred back to the structural dimension of 1.2 m in the WC, i.e. walls.

One more thing about openness: We really like lofts, for example, and I see our ground floor similarly.

I don’t want to go into detail about the architect. He was arrogant and simply didn’t feel the need to accept work, that probably hits the nail on the head. Yes, he was certainly just a negative example. And yes, there will be another architect. We will probably build with a small carpentry company, which will then bring another architect on board. That means essentially the interior walls will be executed as drywall walls.

I’m happy to continue looking at your ideas!

Explain your strategy to us. I have the feeling that you like your floor plan more and more the more opposition you get. Take a mathematical approach to the corners: a rectangle has four sides, your ground floor has ten.

A construction company also needs a plan that "works," meaning it can be built with reasonable effort and where, for example, installations can fulfill their function according to the usual rules with reasonable effort. Maybe you only had one architect with whom it did not fit personally. Leave the past behind and keep looking, there are also many very good ones.
