Well, my husband is just about there, but he also knows now where his money should go.

Yes, there is so much stupid talk, yes... there is... sorry.
It is incomprehensible how people muster the energy to ask how to spend 1000-2000€ extravagantly, which hobbies they could take up, or how to indulge themselves.

How do you come to the conclusion that I am unhappy? That’s not the case at all. That’s why I am not a fan of the runaway ideas (take a caravan and drive through xyz for 3 months). I just want to deal with the proposal here in this online forum completely open-mindedly, to invest 1,000 - 2,000 euros in quality of life. Again, that didn’t come from me, but I am happy to entertain the thought experiment – I just don’t yet know what for at all. I derive my happiness and satisfaction more from social relationships – wife and children – extended family in the city – many friends whom I continue to see often. Happiness through material consumption has never been my thing. But that’s exactly what I want to open my mind to here in this thread. Of course, I could stubbornly defend my previous opinion here (which is actually more like: consumption makes you unhappy, according to Fight Club), but that won’t bring me any new insights now. And I am not here to preach but explicitly to engage with opinions that might be contrary to my current beliefs (implicit, unconscious beliefs). I am not unhappy, but explicitly just interested in other opinions and attitudes towards life. This openness on my part has nothing to do with dissatisfaction but rather that I don’t want to preach here, but want to learn.

Escort service... dining in a 2-3 star restaurant... driving a tank... flying to Kyrgyzstan and shooting a sharp RPG... inviting all friends and drinking 21-year-old whiskey... renting an A8 and speeding around the Nürburgring... buying a good suit...

You really are poor... if you really can't think of anything, absolutely nothing...

PS: Or transfer me the 1-2,000 bucks monthly. I'll manage to get rid of it, no worries.

Just use them to pay off your household debts faster. Then maybe you can simply reduce your working hours and find the time that you are currently missing, and you can learn an instrument

Sure, the initial question doesn't make the brightest impression on me either, but how now everyone is beating him up because he doesn't want to worship the golden calf of consumption in the form of travel or Nürburgring, Disneyland, or shooting MG.

He is not supposed to worship it at all. Those were simply thrown-out examples of possible quality of life through money.

The thread is basically settled because a TE has to find decisions on their own.
