hi everyone, currently we are planning our house construction quite intensively and when it comes to the heating type, we are considering heating with a heat pump because we heard from friends that in the long run, it is cheaper since heating costs are saved. these friends themselves do not have one yet, they are just considering the idea. how do you see it, what should be considered? would that be recommendable? we might soon get advice from Vaillant because they have relatively good customer service there, as far as I know. in general, I am happy about tips on this topic. thanks in advance!

First, read through this forum. You ask such a general question as "Is the red car good and cheap because my friends told me so?"

Low heating costs are not due to a single feature; many other things are involved, e.g. building envelope, heating design, underfloor heating or radiators, own usage behavior

A fuel-efficient 1.0-liter gasoline engine also has an immense consumption when installed in a truck ;-)

1.) If it somehow works out financially, then a geothermal heat pump... Unless other reasons prevent this, such as the soil conditions of the property, regulations regarding groundwater, or the general contractor objects if the GC is supposed to do the construction.

2.) Air heat pump if nothing works out from point 1 due to various reasons. Or if the heating load of the house is low and/or in combination with a photovoltaic system. Although a photovoltaic system is never a bad idea, except when poorly planned and implemented.

3.) In general, there are no bad heat pumps (whether air, ground, or water), only poorly planned houses or hydraulics.

4.) Exception: if it is not an extremely well-insulated passive house. Then never let yourself be sold so-called air-to-air heat pumps or so-called comfort air heating or whatever heating system.
