How deep should the terrace roof be because of rain?

Our roof is made entirely of transparent acrylic panels... precisely because of the brightness... it does make the room a bit darker, but it's still within acceptable limits... also south-facing.

Our neighbors had a wooden roof installed just two weeks ago... so it is impermeable. As a result, the entire terrace and even the interior become extremely dark.

If you have additional larger windows on the side, it might work... but for me, without them, it would be too dark...

So a 3m sliding door would still be on the south and also an east window with a width of 180cm.

We also only have a 2-meter east window...1.35m high...as mentioned, it still fits well for us...but also the transparent panels. The roof covers a large area for that.

You have more windows and it should work. But someone with a similar roof should be able to give better information.

As I said, I only know it from the neighbor. And there it seems very dark to me...but they also have just one other window to the east...it's even just a single sash with a pleated blind and flower box on the windowsill.

Leave the cut at 1.5m. There you have the advantage of being able to shelter something a bit rainproof (e.g. shoes used for going into the garden). To be able to sit outside even in the rain, I would have such a massive awning with side supports installed. Advantage: in spring and autumn, when you like to enjoy the sun without protection, that works, then I don’t extend the thing. In summer, I can use it as sun protection if I want, but don’t have to if not necessary. In rain, such awnings offer sufficient protection. In winter, they don’t take away the sun in your living space.

We just got our 4x6m terrace roof on the west side last week. I was a bit surprised that the water was sprayed under the roof from the south and west partly over 1.5m. If the roof is then on the 2nd floor, at 1.5m it definitely is no longer possible to shelter anything rainproof.

My wife and I have been pondering the topic further. On the internet, we found a pergola with an electrically extendable rainproof and up to wind force 6 sturdy awning. The rainproof material also lets less light through. Although a darker living room is not so bothersome when you are sitting outside anyway. Does anyone have experience with such a rainproof awning?
