Hello,

I wanted to ask you, we are facing very hot days again.

How can we cool the house down a bit without an air conditioner or reduce the perception of heat somewhat?

We can't just install an air conditioner easily because we have KfW 55 and are not allowed to make any changes in the first 10 years,
or you have to hire an energy consultant to recalculate it.

We shade all the windows during such heat but can't keep all the windows closed.
The dog also needs to be able to go into the garden.

What would you recommend to us?

Use normal fans? Standing fan or tower?

What do you think about those with humidifiers? That only unnecessarily increases the humidity inside the house, right?

Are there fans or something that can actively cool something or mini air conditioners that don’t require fresh air supply or an outdoor unit or a hose that goes outside?

On very hot days 30+ we have about 25-26 degrees in the house as the highest temperature.

Why shouldn't a split air conditioner work? They are even subsidized.

then we would have to have the house recalculated to see if it is still KfW 55 we are not allowed to do anything in the first 10 years that would affect the KfW 55 status

that's what we were told and if we were to install an air conditioning system, an energy consultant would have to calculate whether it is still KfW 55 since the electricity for cooling is then included

our KfW 55 house is now 2 years old

Buy yourself a small portable air conditioner, make a panel for a window and lead the exhaust hose through it. You won't achieve a comfortable temperature with it, but relief.

so basically only a mobile air conditioner with an exhaust hose works? I actually don't want that

It's not unbearable for us either. I just hoped that you could lower the room temperature by 2-3 degrees with simple aids

What do you think about fans with water cooling? That only increases the humidity unnecessarily, right?

So in our rented apartment, we have also had a portable air conditioner for a few years now (hose pinched in the roller shutter) and we have to turn it off again after a while because it gets too cold. We actually only use it in the living room at the moment, the rest of the apartment is still warmer but it's not bad enough for me to move the device to another room. We usually only run it for 1-2 hours. I can only recommend it. Ours was rather expensive at 800€, but it was totally worth it. But there are cheaper ones too. I wouldn't use a fan with water because of the humidity. Then it feels even hotter and disgusting.
