How big should the garden terrace be?

We are building have purchased a new semi-detached house.

The terrace will be 3m deep x 5m wide

The garden is 10m wide x 20m deep

We want to enlarge the terrace ourselves later but do not yet know exactly to what size.
We wanted to ask which terrace size would be reasonable so that it is spacious and has enough room but not too big.

The garden faces southwest

The developer is building a wall as a terrace partition wall which is supposed to end exactly at the terrace edge

Therefore, we should best decide now how deep the terrace should ultimately be

What should go on the terrace?
How should the furniture be arranged?

We have 11x4.5 m.

I find 4-4.5 m quite good. There's enough space between the table and the house wall.

....then I might possibly like 5 wide x 4 deep, that would be, in my opinion, extremely comfortable. I used to have 3m on our terrace in front of the kitchen, I just looked at the pictures again with table + chairs on it and that was also absolutely fine, especially if there is no wall or ditch etc. afterwards and we lived there as a family of four. But if there is space, it can be 3.5 or maybe even 4m deep. Not more though, it should somehow still fit the proportion of the house.

The house is 6m wide.

We had thought 4m or 5m deep and then 9m wide, so completely across the whole width through the terrace up to the fence

But I have a hard time imagining something like that and tend to exaggerate sometimes :))

Is that even allowed? Seems pretty extreme to me, but as others have said, it depends on the usage. My parents have 4m x 6m and I always thought that was big enough.
