House too big, what to do with the extra rooms?

I think you have to like the house. It is not listed as a lover's object on a major real estate portal for nothing. Possible drawbacks are: - low ceilings of the old farmhouses (beams at door height) - the small rooms (unchangeable due to monument protection) - double windows - electric heating and no energy certificate Did you find the property only on the internet or actually have a look at it?

So rooms and ceilings are big/high enough. I have seen worse in timber-framed houses. Ceiling height on the ground floor is 2.3m, but you have to subtract 15cm for the beams. Still enough so you don’t hit your head. Or does that reduce the value of a property so insanely? What you mean by double windows I don’t know. In my opinion, there are very nice old wooden windows inside, which were also renovated in 2015.

I didn’t find the house on the internet, but of course I looked at it. Otherwise I would hardly come up with the idea of buying it.

Where you get your quotes from is a mystery to me. They are not from me. So it would be good if you provide a source when you quote unrelated things.

The quotes are from the description of the object on Immobilienscout. I added them afterwards and perhaps should have mentioned that they originate from there.

Can be found on Immoscout under the location Lahstedt Price 150T€

By the way, you can also see the crooked wall from the other thread there ;-)

Looks great. :-) However, I doubt whether you are allowed to install photovoltaics on the roof. But with the large garden, you can set up a ground-mounted system.

I wouldn’t buy the house... -The rooms are tiny -Rooms feel dark and cold -Roof seems overdue -Hardly any freedom to design, not even inside -Energy certificate probably beyond good and evil

For me, there could be no real feeling of comfort, especially at home in your own four walls... In my opinion, all that’s offered is a large plot with a huge millstone around your neck.

What’s even in favor of the house, not even the half-timbering is nice

€: for not even 50k more, at least a significantly better offer is made on the side.

...and the sauna in the bathroom :)

I won't comment on the house itself, but a "loved object" usually refers to something in which you invest "more" than you get out in value.

Loved objects are mostly antiques or classic cars; they require more care and maintenance costs than current comparable objects.
The same applies to real estate.
