Hello everyone,

a fundamental question:
We can have tiles 1.4m high in the bathroom (included in the house price). However, we have planned tiles in the format 30x60. Now we could go for 1.2m (4x30cm) or 1.5m (5x30cm).

The tiler would go for 1.5m, but the tile specialty store said that 1.2m would look better.

This would concern the guest shower and bathroom. ([Bodengleiche Duschen werden umlaufen raumhoch gefliest]).

What would be your suggestions?

Well, there will also be areas that will be tiled up to the ceiling or at least 200 to 220 cm high. What is tiled to what height therefore depends on the overall concept for me. So, first create the overall concept of the bathroom and then decide which heights are needed. Or where tiles might perhaps be omitted altogether. Basically, I see about 120 cm height as half-height as a better value than 150 cm.

Shower 200-220cm, WC/sink 120-150cm depending on local conditions (built-in shelf or similar). Rest without tiles.

The topic of tiles is endless! Ask 2 people and you get 7 opinions! You can't give general advice because we neither know the floor plan nor the tile pattern. In the shower area, of course, tiles should go up to the ceiling; otherwise, the height surely also depends on the intended furniture! I tend to 150 cm.

maybe someone will post pictures at some point?

We do not have tiles all around in any bathroom, only where it is necessary, i.e., at the sink, bathtub, toilet, and in the shower, and only as high as needed. Otherwise, the remaining wall surfaces are simply wallpapered with painter's fleece and painted white. It looks more modern and homely when there are not tiles everywhere. 1.50m is anyway way too high, how should pictures or decorations be placed on the walls then.

Best regards Sabine

Just to throw in an opinion: shower up to the ceiling, otherwise 1.80m

1.20m is really bad because there are probably switches or sockets directly nearby.
